China a threat to peace

Peace and stability in Asia are threatened by China's military
actions. Along with a 14.5% increase in military spending, China has
increased its missile arsenal to over 800, threatening the democratic
nation of Taiwan. In addition, Chinese president Hu Jintao's threat of
"serious consequences" for Taiwan shows that the greatest threat to
peace in East Asia is China.
"If China was serious about promoting peace and stability, then it would
remove the 800 missiles that it points at Taiwan," remarked Dr. Harry
Chen, president of the Formosan Association for Public Affairs Canada
(FAPA Canada). "We call on China to renounce the use of force and
behave in a responsible manner."
"Furthermore, China needs to learn to respect the values of democracy
and freedom," added Chen. "The vast majority of Taiwanese people reject
the notion of unification with China."
This week also marks the one year anniversary of the "anti-secession"
law, a law that threatens to resolve cross-strait disputes by
non-peaceful means.
"Taiwan has never been ruled by the People's Republic of China," noted
Stan Lai, vice-president of FAPA Canada. "The Taiwanese people cherish
their hard-won freedom and human rights. Why would they give them up to
be ruled by an authoritarian regime?"

La Chine est une menace pour la paix

La paix et la stabilité en Asie sont menacées par les actions militaire de la Chine. La Chine a
augmenté les dépenses militaires de 14.5% et elle a plus de 800 missiles qui sont dirigés à Taïwan,
un pays démocratique. Avec les menaces du président de la Chine, Hu Jintao, c’est evident que la
Chine est la plus grande menace en Asie.
“Si la Chine vraiment veut promouvoir la paix et la stabilité, il faut qu’elle enlève ses missiles,” a dit
Dr. Harry Chen, le président de l’Association Formosane pour les Affaires Publiques (AFAP Canada).
“La Chine doivent renoncer à l'utilisation de la puissance.”
“La Chine doivent apprendre à respecter les valeurs de la démocratie et la liberté,” a continué Chen.
“La grande plupart de taïwanais oppose l’idée d’unification avec la Chine.”
“La République populaire de Chine n’a jamais géré le Taïwan,” a remarqué Stan Lai, le vice-président
de l’AFAP Canada. “Les citoyens de Taïwan aiment bien leur liberté et leurs droits de l’homme.
Pourquoi les taïwanais veulent-ils les abandonner pour les atrocités de la Chine?”

中國是和平的威脅

(2006年3月15日 加拿大多倫多訊) 亞洲的和平及安定正受到中國的軍事威脅。除了14.5% 的軍事經費增加，
中國也以超過800 枚飛彈威脅民主的國家-台灣。而且中國國家主席胡錦濤揚言以「嚴重的後果」對付台灣，
更証明中國才是東亞和平的最大威脅。
「如果中國真正有誠意促進和平及安定，她應該將對準台灣的800枚飛彈撤除，」
加拿大台灣人公共事務會(FAPA Canada)會長陳星旭博士說，
「我們要求中國放棄以武力而以理性負責的態度解決爭議。」
「更進一步，中國應該學會如何尊重自由及民主的價值。」他又說「絕大多數的台灣人民拒絕接受中國的統一。」
這禮拜是所謂『反國家分裂法』一週年。此法明白表示中國將以非和平方式解決兩岸爭議。
「台灣從來未受中國統治，」FAPA Canada 副會長賴再挺指出，
「台灣人民珍惜他們辛苦奮鬥得來的自由及人權。為什麼他們會放棄這些，
再去接受一個專制獨裁政權的統治?」
