Canada must support Taiwan's WHO bid

The Formosan Association for Public Affairs Canada (FAPA Canada) stated today
that Canada must support Taiwan's bid for entry into the WHO as an observer. Taiwan
will make its tenth bid for admission at the World Health Assembly (WHA) in May.
"This issue is not about politics, but about the basic right of all citizens to enjoy
the right of good health," remarked Dr. Harry Chen, president of FAPA Canada. "The
continued exclusion of Taiwan from the WHO is a threat to Taiwan, Canada, and the entire world."
"We call on the Canadian delegation to the WHA to fully support Taiwan's entry to the
WHO as an observer," continued Chen. "It is imperative that Taiwan be able to
participate in all WHO technical meetings, and be integrated into global response
mechanisms to outbreaks and epidemics."
"Though China is the one that is blocking Taiwan's admittance, it is China that doesn't
cooperate with the WHO despite being a full member-state," remarked Andrew Yeh, Chief
Executive Officer of the Canada Taiwan Health Alliance. "Taiwan voluntarily adheres to
WHO regulations despite its continued exclusion."

Le Canada doit soutenir l’admission de Taïwan à l’OMS

L’Association Formosane pour les Affaires Publiques Canada (AFAP Canada) a affirmé que le
Canada doit soutenir l’admission de Taïwan à l’OMS. Taïwan essayera gagner l’admission à l’OMS en Mai.
« L’admission est necessaire, parce que tout le monde aurait le droit de la santé, » a remarqué Dr. Harry
Chen, le président de l’AFAP Canada. « L’exclusion de Taïwan est dangereuse pour les citoyens de
Taïwan, du Canada, et du monde. »
« Ainsi, la délégation du Canada doit soutenir l’admission de Taïwan à l’OMS, » a continué Chen.
« Il faut que Taïwan puisse participer dans tous les réunions technologiques de l’OMS. »
« C’est la Chine qui empêche l’admission de Taïwan, mais c’est la Chine qui refuse de coopérer
avec l’OMS, » a remarqué Andrew Yeh, le président-directeur général de l’Alliance Santé de Canada
et Taïwan. « Taïwan adhere bénévolement aux regulations de l’OMS en dépit de son exclusion. »

加拿大一定要支持台灣加入世界衛生組織

加拿大台灣人公共事務會(FAPA Canada)今日呼籲加拿大一定要在今年五月支持台灣加入世界衛生組織為觀察員. 這是台灣第十次向世界衛生大會(WHA) 申請加入為觀察員.
「這是所有世界公民所應享有的基本衛生人權, 不應該受到政治的干擾,」 加拿大台灣人公共事務會會長陳星旭博士指出, 「世界衛生組織繼續排斥台灣, 不但對台灣, 而且對加拿大的公共衛生也是很大的威脅」.
「我們呼籲加拿大的世衛代表團重視這個問題, 一定要在會中全力支持台灣加入世界衛生組織為觀察員,」陳博士又說, 「台灣一定要參加世界衛生組織的所有專業會議, 成為全球流行病爆發反應機制的一環, 才能有效制止全球流行病的蔓延.」
「現在只有中國從中作梗, 阻止台灣加入. 但是中國本身雖然是一個會員, 卻常不履行義務, 隱瞞疫情, 不肯和世界衛生組織合作,」 加拿大台灣衛生聯盟執行長葉國基先生說, 「反之, 雖然台灣至今還不是會員, 卻一直遵守世界衛生組織的規範.」
